We understand that home birth isn't the right choice for Every Body. Hiring a knowledgeable, experienced birth doula to support you in your planned hospital birth can help you have your best possible birth. A postpartum doula can support you to adjust to life with your newest addition in the postpartum, answering questions about normal newborn behavior, infant feeding, provide a helping hand, and connect you to community resources.

Doulas are trained, skilled professionals who offer continuous emotional and physical support before, during, and immediately after your birth. All of the Every Body Midwifery doulas all have the added benefit of having a background of midwifery knowledge and experience. We work with all kinds of families, and have experience working with lesbian and gay couples, queer parents, transgender parents, single parents, and polyamorous parents, and parents of size. We have also worked with families from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. We understand that doula support can be especially beneficial if you are a member of a marginalized community that experiences more discrimination in health care, and we believe we can be an important part of you team to ensure you get the best care possible. Some studies have found that having a doulas at a birth may reduce the chance of some interventions, improve individual satisfaction with birth experience, potentially reduce the length of labor, and assist in the success of nursing relationships.
